This is an oil portrait of my daughter Tanya-Joy

Tanya is a painter herself now, and I will be including some of her work.

Tanya has been going on painting trips with me for a few years now. It is great to have her along. She is an inspiration to me.

On our first painting trip to-gether, we went to Algonquin Park, and we were camping at Ackray. It was fall, and got dark early, so we hurried and ate our dinner by the campfire, then got into the tend and got ready for bed. At least I did. Not Tanya. She was rustling about in the tent and peering through the tiny tent windows. When asked what she was up to, she informed me she was sketching the sky and moon with the dark trees in the foreground. "you can't see, get to bed" I told her, but she did not listen and stayed by the window doing two painting sketches of the moon. I think these two sketches were some of her first paintings and they can be seen in the Varley Gallery in Crosby , Ontario. They are black and white and shades of grey. They are primitive works, but have great charm for me. Come and have a look this summer.
